Configuring your NWNplayer.ini & NWNx.ini

We will assume you have read our guide on uploading your module & hak files. This tutorial will build on that, so please read it if you haven't already.

What you'll need
Notepad or other Text Editor
Windows, or if you are using linux any kind of FTP client

The Process

You should still have your FTP and local windows open from the previous tutorial, if you don't, open them now.

You should see the 2 files in question: NWNx.ini and nwnplayer.ini in the FTP view. Copy them to your Desktop.

configs on desktop
Now they are here, you can edit them as you see fit. Firstly open nwnplayer.ini.

nwnplayer ini
This is the standard config file. Here you can change all aspects of your server, such as; Server Name, PVP Settings, Difficulty Settings and more. The Settings in the default file are normally sufficient however there are lots of options available. These can be found here:  http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Nwnplayer.ini
Please Note that some options like Server Port and Max Players are set on our side and your changes to these will not affect the server.

Next is the NWNx.ini. This file is for configuring NWNx as you might've guessed. As with the nwnplayer.ini the port option is unimportant. However the Module Name is not. When your server is started the module name is read from here, so please ensure it exactly matches your module file name.

nwnx
We reccommend against setting "UpdateIntervalProcess" to anything below 30 seconds, this can cause some problems with your server and might leave it in a crashed state. We reserve the right to alter the nwnx.ini settings to maintain server stability.

Once you have edited both of these files you can save them. Then copy them from your desktop, back onto the ftp, overwriting the server copies.

Your server is now ready to start up. Send us a Support Ticket or reply to your welcome mail and request your server be started! Happy gaming!
